You Don’t Deserve a Discount, a Freebie, or a Bailout!

I am tired of people who feel they were handed a wrong card and deserve a bailout.  I am sick of people whining about how they need a discount.  I despise people who believe that others who work their asses off to build a sustainable business should provide them with a product or service for free!

It is unfortunate that Americans (and some other countries) think there is something constantly owed to them or that because of their horrible circumstances they deserve a break.  You know what?  You don’t!  We are not owed anything by our government, our state, or from businesses who happen to be fortunate enough to stay afloat in a rough economy.

I see people who live in poverty stricken countries who pull themselves up by the bootstraps and take advantage of their opportunity (which compared to us is significantly small compared to the opportunities we enjoy) and doing all they can to make a simple living. They do it without grumbling about how “bad it is” for them.  Others can too.

Here is my point of this rant…we deserve nothing, but we can earn everything!

I could have easily been living in a cardboard box, be in prison, or been dead but I’ve had to overcome extreme challenges to be as blessed as I am today.   I never expected that someone should bail me out and when I did turn my life around I felt better for not taking the beggar’s way out. I’ve had friends and family tell me how nice it must be to be in my shoes but they don’t realize how much I’ve had to fight to earn these shoes!  No matter what circumstances led me to hit rock bottom it was never anyone else’s responsibility to give me a break or help.

I personally feel that too many of us feel victimized by whatever has happened to us now, or in the past, and that we deserve something for this and that is BS!

Friends, you DO have the right for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness by living in America but anything above and beyond that is a privilege.  Anything beyond this must be earned and it is because of the sacrifice of so many great people that we even have the means to do so.   If you are one of the numerous people who are complaining about product discounts because you can’t afford it or wanting a handout because of your bad financial decisions, you need to suck it up and work hard to get to where you want to be.  You’ll even be more thankful for paying it in full than getting the freebie.

Wanting something is not enough. You must hunger for it. Your motivation must be absolutely compelling in order to overcome the obstacles that will invariably come your way.” – Les Brown

James, I couldn’t agree with you more. And a supporting point came up on my blog yesterday, the commenter said, “remember to surround yourself with good people.”

I appreciate what you guys are doing – a whole lot!
