In my last post I shared how my wife and I ended up in a terrible car wreck before embarking on our 19th anniversary cruise and vacation. I always talk about how precious life is and that it can be over in a blink of an eye, but I never imagined how hitting a truck at 75 mph would affect me physically and mentally. The last several months had already been stressful and plagued with challenges and I never expected what would transpire over the last 21 days! It’s been a real weird experience to say the least and it has helped me to refine my “life-style design.”
With these all these circumstances in mind (and after much consideration and advice) I have decided that it is time for me to change direction and resign from my current role at WebDesign.com and iThemes.
This decision was not easy! I shut down a successful business to join a very talented team and the opportunity to build an amazing business with a fantastic domain name isn’t something you normally walk away from, but as crazy as it sounds, both my wife and I feel it is right for us personally and professionally. I am also appreciative of the support and friendship of Cory Miller in this hard decision. It really is bitter-sweet but God has a new plan and work for me.
I am very thankful to have served almost two years with a magnificent team and business! I appreciate the opportunity to have worked with Cory, Chris, Sarah, Ronald and Matt for a majority of that time, as well as Skyler and Dustin. A thank you must also go out to Scott and Jay who are amazing for letting us run with the vision and to Jennifer for keeping things in order. Finally, there is no one else like the people I’ve built friendships with in our community and who make much of what we do as a team worth doing. The last two years have been one great experience I will never forget! And just so you know … I will still be lurking in the WD community and forum and I’ll be hanging out with the iThemes crew from time to time.
So what’s next and where do I go from here?
I am relaunching the Branding Shed but I am also considering and exploring several other business opportunities. I am also planning on being more involved in some non-profit/ministry work. I’ll announce additional details in a couple of weeks as I transition out of my current role and evaluate the ideas ahead.
In the meantime, I am looking to partner with great people for some of my ideas and I’ll also be taking on client work again. If you are interested, please shoot me an e-mail or connect with me on Twitter or LinkedIn. Thank you all so much for your time and support and I hope to hear from you!
