Looking back on my 2011 I can see the activities that set a direction for change and success. They have not been monumental but they move in the right direction. I remember that we sometimes get pulled down paths we don't want to travel, but we gain new perspective on the journey. It's easy to forget this. My son left for the army today. I am very proud of him and excited as he starts this new adventure. During the induction ceremony I was very impressed by a young soldier who spoke to inspire and guide them at the start of this journey. Mentors are so important along the way. I think being real is a double edged sword. On one side, people want you to be true to self, and then on the other side, when you do something THEY don't like, you get cut. Ultimately I think each person needs to determine how transparent or "real" they want to be with others and then be prepared for whatever might come from it.
