Business Lesson: Be Who YOU Are!

Be yourself.  Brand you and not be someone else.

Lets have a show of hands … how many people have said the would like to have the life of Chris Brogan?  Or make that Tim Ferris, Liz Strauss, Mike Rowe, JK Rowling, or maybe even Seth Godin.  There has probably been some point in our lives recently that we wish we could be or have what “they” have.  I think this is a tragic mistake.

The world already has them.  What it needs is YOU!

You are unique and wonderfully made to be different.  You were created to be (insert your name here) and this means that you should do everything you can to be who you are.  Looking at others for inspiration is understandable and can be good, but you should never aspire to copy or emulate another human being.  That’s being a poser and people can smell a fake pretty quickly.

If you are building brand you or your company brand, then start by asking HOW CAN YOU BE DIFFERENT?  How will you stand out from the rest of those poor lemurs? What will make you memorable over the others?  How will you define your life and business — and then do what it takes to achieve the success that you want?

I’m personally tired (and sad) of seeing entrepreneurs all drinking the sweet delicious kool-aid that makes them want to follow the latest and greatest Internet Marketers or “A-List” speaker.  Stop throwing all your attention and money at them hoping one day you will be blessed to walk in their shoes.  This is the time for you to invest in you!  Be who you are and build brand you … not someone else’s brand.
