The Enemy Has Broken Through the Lines!

One of my favorite war movies of all time is called We Are Soldiers which stars Mel Gibson.  The movie, while not entirely historically accurate, chronicles the first major battle of the U.S. Military in Vietnam in 1965.  The battle took place in the “Valley of Death” and after two days of intense fighting, the American forces lines are broken through on all sides, resulting in Lt.General Moore calling in the command for “broken arrow” – the last attempt to be saved by a heavy barrage of air support and dropping napalm and bombs within feet of their troops.

This battle describes how I feel my life is going right now.  There is a huge battle going on and the enemy has broken through the lines.  BROKEN ARROW!

Please know that I am NOT comparing my situation to that of the U.S. Soldiers who fought and died in that conflict … not even close.  What I am comparing to is the overwhelming attacks by an enemy that is real; both physically and spiritually.  I have recognized a pattern in my life that when I decide to be on fire for my faith and start really focusing on God, that there is a period where small arms fire, hand grenades, and artillery is blasted at me with great accuracy.  It is happening again.

This last week has brought me betrayal of trust, burned relationships, great sorrow, and a reminder that when you let your guard down, you get hit in the face.  So I am praying and seeking answers.  I am loading my weapon, putting on my flak jacket, and fixing my bayonet!  I will not go down without a fight and I am going to charge the enemy with all I am worth … just like the final scene in We Were Soldiers.   God has got my back and I lay down my fear.

11 BRAVO!  Go AIR CAV!
