Business Advice: Pick your horse and stick with it!

I am an idea nut!  Every day I can find opportunities to explore or can create a fresh plan for world domination.  It’s in my blood to want to design new products or services.  I’d love to be like Richard Branson and the plethora of Virgin Brands.  But I can’t!  I can’t because there is not enough time or money or focus.

Years ago my brother-in-law gave me some great advice that I really hated to hear.  He said “pick your horse and ride it for all it’s worth and don’t stop riding it until it’s dead.” Crap!

The problem with entrepreneurs having a successful business idea isn’t always a lack of interest or market, but a lack of focus to see it through.  It’s challenging, almost impossible for most of us to juggle.  We lose the vision and drop balls.

Stop trying to ride the whole stable.  Pick your stallion …train it, feed it, care for it, love it and ride it for all it’s worth.  Unless it dies, you will cross the finish line.

I replied to this post last week. I am surprised it was not posted. What happened?

I find your post to be very true for me. I started my site as a hobby. However, I recently monetized the site with google ads and an affiliate program. There are so many ideas and resources floating around that it is easy to lose focus. Thanks for the reminder.
