Many companies claim to have customer service but how do you define that? Does it mean that you post an e-mail saying contact us with any issues and we’ll respond quickly with a solution – yet a response never happens? Does customer service mean we’ll place you on hold in a system that says your call is important to us but we’ll transfer you at least a dozen times only to hang up on you? Or is it the “How about we talk about customer service yet you can’t find a way to find it because we really don’t want you to find it deal”?
Yes, I am on a rant because I am tired of companies like Namesecure who will gladly take my money for domain names yet repeatedly fail to send me an e-mail in response to another problem I inquire about or that don’t really have a support system. I did some research on NameSecure and I think that they are owned by Network Solutions. I finally found a legal address and then did a phone search so that I could call someone to complain. The guy that finally got on the line said they don’t have phone support and that there was no one else to talk with…not a manager, a president, or the custodian. I asked them about being owned by Network Solutions – they can’t comment on that! I even tried to start transferring my domain names to another provider and yet I always get stone-walled in the process.
So what is customer service? I don’t know anymore or if it even exists. It seems that there are many companies (and churches) who are too busy to hear our complaint, our problem, our need, or whatever but there never seems to be a problem when it comes time to collect the money. Maybe I should tell about how Hibdon Tires Plus forgot to screw our oil plug in all the way after an oil change recently and how we have a Honda with a dead engine, proof of their negligence, and that they won’t claim responsibility or talk to us about making it right. OK, maybe I’ll just move on and apologize for my raging diatribe.
Please, if you offer any customer or congregational support – or tell someone you’ll be there for them – please follow through!
